Through the Year

I'm so excited about this month's stamp...but not for the reason you may think! I have to admit, I had a difficult time coming up with an idea for a card using this set, but thanks to some inspiration from Michele, the ideas began to flow.

When I realized I could use my new Basic Tags thin cuts, it all started to come together quickly.

sotm, ctmh, papercrafting, handmade cards, christmas

I used the 2 inch tag for the Merriest Wishes & the 1½ inch tags for the little icons.
And I used my journaling pen to finish up all the edges around the tags.

If you haven't tried our thin cuts, this one is the perfect "starter" set. It comes with 4 sizes: 2½", 2", 1½", 1".

Christmas Tunes

It's beginning to look...dare I say it?! It's hard to believe it's already October. The days are getting shorter, here in the Black Hills. And Christmas decor is starting to make it's appearance in all the retail stores. Personally, I hate the way retailers rush the seasons. But there is some validity to getting a head start on your holiday projects -- like Christmas cards!

I've been making handmade Christmas cards since I became a Close To My Heart consultant, eight years ago. And it's one of my favorite things to do. This stamp set features lyrics from a few classic Christmas songs. I used Rocking Around the Christmas Tree for this rustic, log cabin card.

I used our NEW You Are Here Cricut cartridge (have you seen this set?) to create the cozy log cabin. I added some shimmer on the cabin with our clear shimmer brush. The made the stars on the tree twinkle with some Bitty Bling.

I cut a tiny (1 1/2) wreath using the Flower Market cartridge; I think it adds just the right touch to my cabin :)

Feel So Blessed

Living a grateful life is something that I try to practice daily. But as we come into fall & the season of Thanksgiving, gratitude seems to be front & center everyone's minds. This stamp has all the sentiments you need to express your gratitude in cards, scrapbook layouts, thanksgiving table decor & more!

I got the inspiration for this double z-fold card from fellow consultant, Laura Ryan. I used our new Basics Fundamentals pattern paper - don't you love it? "Grateful" is stamped in the new Charcoal ink. The Basics color paletten (our neutrals) was totally revamped this year - you can check out the ten new colors here. These are just a few of the MANY new products that launched last month in our Annual Inspirations catalog.

For the inside of the card, I used a floral cluster & "thank you" sentiment from the From the Heart stamp set, which is this month's National Stamping Month special.

Have you noticed that feathers are all rage? My friend & fellow consultant, Tracey Pierce, created this amazing card for our SOTM swap. It's my favorite - possibly, because she used Eggplant cardstock!

Live, Laugh, Love

I have to admit...coloring is not my thing. I know it's all the rage right now, but (until now) I've not been able to jump on the bandwagon. This stamp might change my mind!? It really pops!!

I doesn't look bad, stamped in a single color. But when you use your ShinHan markers to color it in...wow!

ctmh, pml, stamp of the month, creating from the heart

I decided to start a new Picture My Life (PML) pocket album with photos from our trip to Alaska last year. I made my own PML cards using the Live, Laugh, Love set. I also added a pre-made card from a retired PML set & a gold overlay

Tea-rrific

March SOTM
I had so much fun creating with this stamp set! I sometimes feel like I get in a rut, creating cards that are the same shape/size all the time. So I decided to use a 5.5" square card base this month, cut from our Kraft paper (although you can't see the base in my photos). The large polka dot pattern in the Sugar Rush paper packet needs a little extra room to really pop - I think it worked!?

I used a technique called "paper piecing" with the stacked tea cups. I stamped the image in Slate ink on three different pattern papers. Then I cut out one cup from each paper & stacked them back up. I'm really please how it turned out.

I also designed this tea bag holder (inspired by Tina Law) for an upcoming event. These are going to make great little gifts!

January SOTM |Adore You

Happy New Year!! I hope everyone is healthy, happy & ready to craft in 2017. My anniversary was in December, so I made this little card, for my dear hubby, in the midst of the holiday rush. This stamp set is perfect for COLORING -- you know, coloring was all the rage last year!

I started by using one of the new paper packets called Sugar Rush for the background paper & heart cutout. You can check out this packet & other in our new Seasonal Expressions catalog that launched TODAY on my website!

I had to add a little Sea Glass glitter paper, because I {heart} it, to the back of the heart shape (I used the Flower Market cartridge to cut the heart). And our new Sugar Rush dots make my flowers pop. I used my blending pen to pick up pomegranate & tangerine ink for the flowers. I used juniper for the leaves.

I'm planning to use this set for my Valentine-themed banner workshop in February. Stay tuned for photos of that project!
